The first time I got my period was kind of weird. I was at a rest stop because my family went to Florida and we were just coming home to New Jersey (where I live). It was a one bathroom stall and I saw discharge with some brownish-red coloring. I said to myself “I’m a big girl now”. I turned 13 in July. So this is like an okay moderate age to get your period. When I got home, I changed the went to bed. This morning I woke up and knowing that I had a potential period, I went straight to the bathroom. I saw a bright red blob called blood in my under pants. I put a panty liner on knowing how to use it and I went to my mom and said, “ Mom. I got my period”. She just woke up from her nap too. She was all like “Aww my little baby girl.” I went upstairs, took a shower, changed, and put a pad on in a kit I got in 5th grade. I’m now in eighth so keeping things come in handy. Now I’m going to the store to buy my panty liners and pads. :3
Tips:
-Dont panic. You are just going to scare yourself into denile.
-Talk to your mom. All moms have their period. They know what you are going through. Don’t be nervous. Just tell her. And if you don’t have a mother and feel uncomfortable telling your dad, go to a teacher or your friends mother for help. Your dad will figure it out someday.
-Take showers. You don’t want to smell bad. Everyone should be taking showers anyway. Baths are a no no.
-Change your pad every 2-6 hours. Depending in how heavy or light your period is, change the pad or panty liner that you’re wearing. It feels icky when you leave it.
I hope this helps.
