My first period wasn't too bad

It was a Friday morning and I was getting ready for school. I got changed and then went to the toilet. When I pulled down my pants, I noticed a dark patch. I didn’t think anything of it so I did my business. But when I wiped my self, I noticed the tissue was a pinky-reddish colour. My first thought was, “Oh no!”. My mum was in the kitchen at the time (the bathroom and kitchen are next to each other) so I just came straight out with it. “Mum…I think I’ve started. The tissue is pinkish but I’m not sure” She told me put a pad in anyway and take some with me to school.

So I was in third period/Lesson (drama) and I could feel something wet down below. I asked my teacher if I could go to the toilet so I went and I took my bag with me, making the excuse that I didn’t trust the people in my class with my bag. I went into the cubicle and pulled my skirt and pants down and the pad was all red. I slowly peeled it off and wiped down below. The tissue was definitely red this time so I put another pad on and went back to class.

Later that day when I was going home, me and my friends stopped off at the park. We were all laughing, joking and messing around when I could feel a tingle in my vagina like something was dripping out. I took no notice and just carried on playing. When I got home, I went straight to the toilet and there it was again. So this time, I was sure it was my period.

If you’re reading this and you’ve just started or you’re worried about starting, don’t! It’s really nothing to worry about. My advice would be when it comes don’t panic! Just tell your mum or dad. Buy pads before you’ve started so you’re prepared. I think it’s easier to use pads when you first start but the really thick ones are quite uncomfortable so you will probably end up switching to tampons. If you start at school and you have nothing on you, bundle up a load of tissue temporarily and ask your friends if they have any pads. I’m sure they’ll understand as most of them may already be experiencing their periods. (Sorry this was kinda long but I hope this helps!)
