I stepped into the bathroom stall at school, going about my routine. Then I saw my undies. Their was bright red splatters that looked a lot like paint all over them. My mind drifted back to the discomfort I had had and the sharp pain in my side a few days ago. Then it hit me. I had just experienced my first period! I finished my business and then walked away like nothing had happened. I didn’t put a pad in or anything.
That night I contemplated whether had my period or if I had an infection. I decided that if the blood ruined three pairs of underwear, I would tell my mom. So I waited and watched. Sure enough, the next day and the day after, there was a lot of red splatters on my underpants.
Awhile back, my mom had given me a bag so that I could be prepared for when my period and the onslaught on puberty came. It had pads and acne wash and a scrubby. Everything I needed.
Twice I almost put a pad in. Twice I chickened out. So, finally, I decided to tell my mom.I was soo embarrassed, but she was super happy for me. She gave me a tutorial on how to use the supplies, which we already had, and asked if I had any questions.
So.. that’s my story.
Oh, and one last thing. Periods for girls can look totally different. Some girls’ first is just thick discharge, others is bright red paint platters like mine. Don’t worry about what you first perforations like. If you miss a couple within the first year or so that is totally normal. Also, I’d advise you to start out with pads, and graduate to tampons under a trusted adults guidance. And, not all girls have cramps and stuff. I don’t really. Just twinges in my belly. GOOD LUCK!!!!
